Description

Position Overview: 

The Product Owner II is the single person responsible for effectively managing the development of new software features. This position focuses the team to work on issues that maximize the return on investment. This role champions the product, while utilizing business acumen to facilitate and make final decisions on releasable projects. Additionally, the person will be responsible for more than one team or a project that is higher in complexity.

Essential Functions:  

  • Participates in defining project vision and clearly communicates this vision with the assigned teams and stakeholders
  • Works with internal and external stakeholders to define goals, requirements, and business need
  • Works with Chief Product Owner to determine which project the team should be working on
  • Assesses business value of feature requests, product, and technical requirements; prioritizes work according to the value assessment
  • Creates, grooms, and prioritizes backlogs
  • Responsible for clearly understanding business value, intent, and being able to express this in both verbal and written formats
  • Arbitrator of project requirement questions
  • Ensures development team works to achieve a potentially shippable product at end of sprint; decides whether to ship or continue development with the help of the Chief Product Owner
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of the company

Eligibility Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Formal training in Scrum framework
  • 2+ years of experience with Agile project management experience 
  • At least 2 years of moderate programming experience as determined by the Chief Product Owner 
  • Practices business acumen

  • Attention to Detail - able to accomplish a task with concern for all the areas involved, carefully monitoring the detail and quality of own work
  • Results Oriented - has a concern for achieving or surpassing results against an internal or external standard or objective
  • Interpersonal skills - able to get along with others effectively, lead and influence the team, negotiate and collaborate with other development teams or external stakeholders
  • Conflict resolution - able to bring disagreements into the open and attempts to manage them collaboratively
  • Travel - Periodic local and international overnight travel, via air and car, is required

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Ability to work in an office environment. Specific abilities required by this job include: Near vision; hearing; ability to transport oneself as needed throughout the day; ability to sit and use computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal, for extended periods of time; manual dexterity (eye/hand coordination); repetitive arm/hand movements
