Description
Position Overview:
The Systems Administrator III is responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining cPanel LAN/WAN
network infrastructure and company servers. As a member of the System Administration team, this role will have
direct impact on keeping the company’s network running efficiently by continuously adjusting, monitoring, and
troubleshooting. This role also has the overall responsibility for providing technical leadership in the efficient and
successful operations of the company’s computer systems and mentorship for Level I and Level II System
Administrators.
Essential Functions:
• Architects, deploys, and maintains networks, LAN/WAN infrastructure, and related hardware and
software; all while using best practices to maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and
security
• Independently investigates and resolves issues with servers and other infrastructure, as reported through
the company’s ticketing system, in a timely and communicative manner
• Designs and deploys new infrastructure, performs system upgrades consistent with established
procedures, and updates system automation per standards prepared by the Systems Engineering
Department
• Responsible for designing, implementing, and testing backup solutions
• Collaborates with Systems Engineering Department to ensure system uptime, failover, and automation
• Writes and maintains scripts to help Systems Administration team operate more effectively and efficiently
• Coordinates with Security Team to implement and manage security policies, firewall rules, and ACLs
• Interfaces with network vendors to identify new features and technologies, validate support contracts,
and maintain network equipment patches
• Maintains up-to-date documentation of entire network by creating and enforcing related standards and
collaborates with the Operations Support Owner to establish standard processes and procedures for the
Systems Administration team
• Participates effectively in a team on-call rotation requiring coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
• Provides mentorship to Systems Administrator I’s and II’s
• Adheres to the policies and procedures of the company

Eligibility Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 5-8 years Systems Administration and Linux experience
• CCNP or equivalent certification preferred
• Skills:
• Expert knowledge of *nix / Linux administration experience: Linux, Apache, MySQL, Firewalls (iptables),
VPN
• Expert knowledge of server hardware and configuration
• Expert knowledge of virtualization platforms such as EX2, VMware, or Xen, KVM
• Advanced knowledge of routing and switching across datacenter and office networks
• Experienced with Cisco, Arista, Juniper and other network devices
• Working knowledge of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
• Working knowledge of overlay and SDN networking, i.e. VXLAN
• Strong working knowledge scripting languages commonly used in systems administration: Shell
scripting (bash, sh, tcsh), Perl
• Strong working knowledge of automating system deployment and maintenance using Puppet, Chef, or
similar automation tools

(iptables), VPN, server hardware and configuration, Cisco, Arista, Juniper and other network devices,
Shell scripting (bash, sh, tcsh), Perl, Puppet, Chef, or similar automation tools
• Schedule Flexibility - able to be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and work occasional
nights and weekends in order to perform specific tasks
• Travel - Periodic local and overnight travel, some by interstate air, will be required. Ability to
transport oneself to the site in the event of systems disruption is required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Ability to work in an office building environment including working on the roof: usually well-lit and ventilated; temperatures
may vary at times when working inside a computer facility, to include colder than average temps. Subject to hazards with
proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, working in close quarters, and possible exposure to high heat
during critical/emergency situations. Noise level can range from quiet to noisy.
Specific abilities required by this job include: handling small parts, normal hearing acuity, ability to occasionally transport
and lift up to 60 pounds, ability to transport oneself as needed throughout the day, ability to sit and use computer
workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal, for extended periods of time; this can be a physically
demanding job requiring lifting, climbing ladders, standing, bending, lifting up to 25-60 pounds, and using manual tools
and power tools; manual dexterity (eye/hand coordination); repetitive arm/hand movements.
• cPanel is a 24/7 operation and nontraditional or extended hours (including weekends) may be required, especially
during a system disruption, this role requires availability, often onsite.
