Description


cPanel provides one of the industry's most reliable and intuitive hosting automation software platforms. cPanel is seeking DevOps experts who can build, optimize, and maintain our automation pipelines using technologies such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Jenkins, and many other industry standard automation software suites. We will be building custom applications and monitoring solutions, creating runbooks, developing in multiple languages, and working with cloud service providers including AWS, Digital Ocean and others. Essential Functions:   
  • Analyzes code to find causes of errors and refactors existing code to optimize performance
  • Develops well designed, testable, and efficient new code and modifies existing code based on stakeholder requirements for cPanel products and systems
  • Documents code changes in detail for future reference
  • Exemplifies the use of established development standards in a leadership role and continuously contributes positively to improve the quality of development standards, including the use of sound business judgment and data driven decisions.
  • Collaborates with teams to resolve issues and deliver products of high quality
  • Implements test plans and tests based on current cPanel standards
  • Advises and mentors other developers in design and implementation processes pertinent to cPanel
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of the company
  • Exemplifies the Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Collaboration and Follow-through
Additional Duties:
  • Consistently maintains a full workload without direct oversight
  • Other tasks and duties as deemed necessary

Eligibility Requirements:

Technical skills -
  • Programming language expertise in Perl/PHP/Python; Git; bug tracking, troubleshooting; Linux command line usage
  • Expertise in two or more of the following: Unit testing; database access; Web Servers (apache, LiteSpeed, nginx); SQL Servers (MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc), Mail Servers (Exim, Sendmail, etc) DNS Servers (BIND), and Linux Filesystems (ext3/4, xfs)
  • Able to perform effective code reviews
  • Experience with multiple programming languages
  • Ability to operate in both Kanban and Agile/Scrum teams interchangeably without a negative impact to productivity

Education/Experience - Bachelors degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Five years of Linux / BSD / *nix system troubleshooting or a related certification (RHCE)
  • Five years of Perl, PHP, or Python development experience
  • Travel -  Occasional local and/or overnight travel may be required, some by interstate air

  • Math knowledge - knowledge of arithmetic and algebra
  • Product life cycle knowledge - strong understanding of product development process and continuous deployment process
Work Environment and Physical Demands

Ability to work in an office environment. Specific abilities required by this job include: Near vision; hearing; ability to transport oneself as needed throughout the day; ability to sit and use computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal, for extended periods of time; manual dexterity (eye/hand coordination); repetitive arm/hand movements

cPanel is a 24/7 operation and nontraditional or extended hours (including weekends) are required
