Description

Position Overview

The Release Manager is responsible for scheduling and coordinating the release of cPanel & WHM, Plugins, extensions, and other software in our portfolio. This position will work closely with development teams, product owners, technical support, company executives, and others to ensure smooth releases by providing organization, scheduling, planning, and necessary tools and services.

Essential Functions:

  • Establishes and communicates procedures for releasing software to production, including defect prioritization and back port scheduling to ensure software releases are delivered on time, within budget, and are predictable
  • Plans current and future release windows and cycles across a software portfolio
  • Lead and coordinate go-live activities, including the execution of deployment plans
  • Creates measurements of release health and monitors release progress to ensure software releases are on time, and meet or exceed expectations
  • Triages incoming reports for proper classification and scheduling
  • Manages risk and prioritizes changes required for releasing software, communicates priorities to other teams, and coordinates work needed to release software
  • Coordinate release work across multiple teams
  • Works with various infrastructure teams to continuously improve development pipelines and practices
  • Negotiate, plan, and manage all release activities
  • Weekly reports on the status and health of releases

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • 2-5 years of previous release or project management work
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, typical development pipeline tools such as Jenkins, Jira, and docker
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Experience with risk assessment and risk management

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Ability to work in an office environment. Specific abilities required by this job include: Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds; Near vision; hearing; ability to transport oneself as needed throughout the day; ability to sit and use computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal, for extended periods of time; manual dexterity (eye/hand coordination); repetitive arm/hand movements
