We are looking for a Director of Engineering to join us in building the next generation of hosting technology. As a member of the Chief Technology Officer’s senior staff, you will be responsible for leading, growing and coaching a team of managers and their teams of developers and quality assurance professionals. You will collaborate with the VP of Product to understand customers’ needs and contribute to a roadmap that balances advancing our platform architecture with capitalizing on significant market opportunities.
Essential Functions:
- Co-owns the product roadmap with the VP of Product Development and communicates with the Leadership Team, C-Level members, board members, as necessary, and other stakeholders
- Ownership of team staffing to ensure we have the people, skills, and organization necessary to deliver on the roadmap and accomplish product and company objectives.
- Leads, manages, and mentors a team of Development and QA Managers, who in turn, lead their agile, cross-functional teams to maintain a product pipeline that successfully addresses short term, long term, and emerging opportunities.
- Develop a vision for product architecture that balances market needs with continued ability to innovate.
- Ensures that cPanel products are developed and perform to quality expectations, ensuring appropriate review standards are in place and effective.
- Implements and monitors thoughtful metrics, assuring that teams can work at their most productive, impediments are removed, and functional and non-functional requirements are met.
- Hiring process responsibilities including deciding which roles and skills are needed, makes hiring recommendations with direct report manager team; delegates recruiting when appropriate; not necessarily involved in hiring interviews
- Responsible for planning and administration of the department budget/s, with an overall plan vs actual spending variance of less than 5%

Eligibility Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent in development/ operations experience
- 10+ years overall relevant industry experience in the software development domain
- 5+ years of Linux/BSD/*nix system troubleshooting or a related certification (RHCE, LPIC, etc)
- 5+ years of development experience
- 5+ years of successful software management experience
- Expert understanding of Scrum methodologies and Agile practices
- 3+ years of experience in policy definition and leadership team advisement
- 3+ years in a management role reporting to executive level
- Proven track record of building and leading collaborative teams to produce significant, measurable results
Technical Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of Linux-based operating systems, their underlying components, and services as related to web hosting: Web Servers, SQL Servers, DNS Servers, Mail Servers, Application Hosting, File systems, and Industry Standards of things like these.
- Advanced knowledge of system design, application architecture, development practices, and industry standards related to these
- Advanced knowledge of Development practices: Regular Expressions, MVC, OO, or other organized programming practices
- Expert understanding of Scrum methodologies and Agile practices
- Proven track record of building and leading diverse, collaborative teams to produce significant, measurable results
