Essential Duties and Responsibilities


The Technical Trainer is responsible for the design, development and delivery of training materials related to supporting cPanel software and the Linux operating systems.  The position also includes limited project management and systems administration of training resources for the Technical Analyst Training team.  The Technical Trainer functions as a subject matter expert for the department on all technical matters relating to cPanel’s suite of products.     ​

Develops, presents, and maintains training objectives, program, and materials for new employees and cPanel partners and other customers
  • Develops and maintains annual training plan for the department which includes the curriculum and presentation dates
  • Develops training materials and presentations solely or in collaboration with other company resources by  acting as a subject matter expert for cPanel’s suite of product offerings
  • Facilitates regularly scheduled or on-demand training sessions either on/off-site or via webinar to associates, customers or a broader audience as new product builds and features are released. 
  • Ensures training lessons and materials are easily accessible to all Support Department associates via webinar, LinuxSupport wiki, and/or presentations
  • Ensures that all technical training is current, coordinated with new product releases and updated continuously to reflect key competitive differentiators
  • Ensures that technical training is aligned with broader business operations and initiatives
  • Records all training sessions and makes them available to all associates
  • Participates in cPanel conferences and trade shows providing product demos and setup and breakdown 
  • Provides regular updates to management on project status and/or complications
  • Creates or assists in the creation of training materials and training efforts related to companies partnered or directly associated with cPanel, Inc.  This includes but is not limited to: Siteocity and WHMCS
  • Maintains cPanel University program through routinely evaluating tests and creating/modifying as needed  
  • Develops content and establishes new features for cPanel University site and ensures integrity of the program through identifying abuse of the system
Systems administration of training and certification resources
  • Develops and maintains physical, virtual and backup systems used by training and certification
  • Maintains testing equipment for training, certification or disaster recovery
  • Develops and maintains enough virtual systems for certification to coincide with testing equipment 
Adheres to the policies and procedures of the company

Planning/Organizing skills - able to prioritize work activities, use time efficiently and work through large projects in a self-motivated manner 
Adaptability - able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
Computer knowledge - computer proficiency, which includes knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software; strong knowledge of electronic communication systems; able to navigate internet at highest competency levels
Schedule Flexibility - able to remain on call on a 24/7 basis in absence of manager
Math ability - able to perform basic math operations; able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and rations and apply them to work related situations

Technical Skills - advanced technical skills which include:  
  • Solid knowledge of web server technologies such as Apache, MySQL, PostgresSQL, PHP, Exim, and other MTAs, Spam Assassin, Bind, NSD, DNS, PureFTPD, ProFTPD, Tomcat, Mailman, mod_mono, SSL, Frontpage
  • Solid working knowledge of Linux related technologies: CentOS, RHEL
  • Working knowledge of intermediate to advanced BASH shell commands and procedure
  • Working knowledge of package management systems such as Yum
  • Ability to performance routine maintenance of Mac OS workstations and CentOS / RHEL servers
  • Solid working knowledge of cPanel software, configuration and implementation
  • Solid working knowledge of creating intermediate to advanced Keynote presentations and other presentation and webinar related technologies"
Education/Experience - High School diploma or equivalent
Two years of experience with conducting training or other similar education focused presentations
Two years of web hosting industry experience or other related work

Travel - Periodic local and/or overnight travel will be required
