POSITION OVERVIEW

The Desktop Administrator is responsible for investigating and resolving internal software and hardware problems, and building and maintaining computer systems, by performing the duties below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Builds, creates, updates OS X images along with defined 3 party software as needed
  • Configures and deploys Mac computers and related peripheral equipment
  • Inventories current and new company assets
  • Performs layer 1 support for both Ethernet and Wifi networks
  • Supports all Users and related company systems and adheres to SLA guidelines
  • Assists employees with hardware and software problems submitted via internal ticket system
  • Installs desktop software and verifies its functionality
  • Troubleshoots and repairs hardware and peripheral issues
  • Contacts vendors and RMAs defective equipment
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of the company

Technical skills - advanced technical skills which include:
  • Working knowledge of desktop/server operating systems and their underlying components: Apple OS X 90%, Linux/*nix 5%, and Microsoft Windows OS’s 5%
  • Exposure to database creation and editing of FileMaker Pro
  • Familiar with Microsoft Exchange
  • Experience with low voltage wiring (cat6)
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical principles
Education/Experience – High School diploma or equivalent

Two years of desktop support experience with Apple OS X

Experience with Linux/*nix/ based operating systems

Experience with Microsoft based operating systems experience

Travel - Occasional local and overnight travel may be required

  • Ability to frequently lift up to 20 pounds, and occasionally transport up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to work in restricted or cramped spaces, including but not limited to working underneath desks
  • Ability to sit and use computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal, for extended periods of time
  • Manual dexterity (eye/hand coordination); repetitive arm/hand movements
